particularly the high level of noise pollution they create
without any regard to other residents in nearby blocks?

me too.
i'm currently listening to crap songs from one such event taking place
MORE than 100m frm my place.
what a bloody nuisance.
that is one of the reasons the government build community centres people.
to have noisy events in an enclosed area and minimise the pain it causes other people unrelated to the event.
what's worse is when ignorant individuals stand before the mike in an attempt to sound like their favourite artistes.
common people, that's the reason they are famous and we are not.
so to people who are holding such events in the future under the blocks,
make sure that

(1) i don't stay around that area
(2) you don't allow people to karaoke
(3) or if you really have to, make sure they are not tone-deaf or invite ken lim to the wedding so he can tell those delusional people that they simply CAN'T SING.

and i can't blast music to beat the monstrosities
because daddy is sleeping as he has to work late tonight.
