i've got to admit.
that's never been a particular interest of mine.
i even used to die just at the sight of one.
now, you can say i've adopted a 'zen' approach to it.
but i can't deny the lecture and tutorial was interesting.
well, minus the metre part,
which up till now, i don't understand.
but one quote caught me
"out of the quarrel with others we make rhetoric; out of the quarrel with ourselves we make poetry"
i totally get that.
and i think this Yeats guy is a genius.
i know we discussed that his poems are tough and he have 'weird' ideas.
but somehow,
i oddly understand what he's trying to say.
well, of course after i get everybody's help to understand what the poem says in the first place.
and if we touch on more poems like that,
i might actually find myself enjoying learning poetry.
as long as i'm not required to write one,
i should be fine.
i'll end off with this
" We must always be intoxicated; whether on wine, on poetry, or on virtue, whichever suits our inclination - but we must be intoxicated. "
intoxicated with melancholy.
is there such a thing?
